PCC2000
The Ministry of Transport wrote into the 1959 budget 75 million francs to buy new trams for Antwerp. The PCC prototype, the 2000, was delivered on 3 October 1960. PCC stands for Presidents Conference Committee. That American organisation was set up in 1929 to develop a standard tram for major American cities. Between 1960 and 1975, BN-ACEC built 166 PCCs (2000-2165) under licence for Antwerp.
At De Lijn, the 2000 was given the number 7000. Although the 7000 never rode in De Lijn's colours, it did so in a red and white jacket, the corporate colours of the MIVA since March 1980.
