Tipper carriage 8821 (service vehicle)
Until about 1915, the Compagnie Générale des Tramways d'Anvers (CGTA) used discarded horse-drawn tram carriages to transport rail equipment. Horses pulled the discards. In 1913, the tipping motor coach 8821 was the first motor coach built for the road and works service at the CGTA workshop on Grotehondstraat. It was equipped with four tippers for transporting gravel, sand and crushed stone. The wagon was given the number 1. In 1963, it became 8821. It retired on 19 January 1987. The brown tram rolling stock of the rail and road service was called 'dudes' by staff at the time, because it did all sorts of jobs.
